International Women Day (IWD) is celebrated every March 8th as a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed for forging women’s equality.
The global campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is "Inspire Inclusion”. Meanwhile, the United Nations Women sharpens the theme to 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress' which is also related to the global campaign theme to take into account women's leadership in development.
The themes underline that when we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world and when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.
Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership (AIHSP), through its Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) approach, intentionally promotes and creates spaces where women’s voices are heard and valued. AIHPS recognizes the considerable roles of women in managerial position and promotes more supportive environments for women in the post.
However, despite the effort to promote women’s leadership, there are still challenges along the way. For that reason, AIHSP is featuring three inspiring women namely, Ibu Emer Purdon as AIHSP Deputy Program Director, Ibu Lea Suganda as AIHSP Senior Program Manager Human Health and Ibu Mei Tatengkeng as AIHSP NTT Program Coordinator to share their views.
They are great examples of several inspirational female figures within the scope of the AIHSP program.
